Las Vegas and my 23rd birthday?!

I almost considered Social Siberia.  Never thought I would ever say those words.

The only reason I considered it because the week before I left for Las Vegas was one of the most stressful weeks I’ve had thus far. And it was mid-terms! My head was spinning with every thing that I needed to complete before I jet off to Vegas with no worries. Luckily, I had my parents there supporting me every step and dealing with my long rants about how upset I was about everything.

Lyndsey greeting us in the Las Vegas airport.

Thankfully the week ended quickly and I found myself in beautiful Las Vegas. It was absolutely amazing! We left on November 1st – did I mention that’s my birthday? When we arrived to Vegas we were lucky enough to find one of my best friends standing there by our baggage claim holding a sign and gifts.

From there, our adventure only began.  Our check-in was not until 3pm so we went ahead and ran errands. The errands included: picking up alcohol and food at the grocery store, and going to the Fashion Mall to pick up clothes for the weekend extravaganza. I needed to pick up some dresses because the night before we left my friends who couldn’t make it to Vegas decided to go all out on Halloween. Of course that meant a lot of alcohol. Which means I slacked on the packing. Not Ashamed.

When we were able to check into the hotel, the room was small but average sized. Had a great view and we were on the 22nd floor! I even took a panorama of the view from our window. Having the mountains in the background did make me feel like I was at home. Except that they were dry, grey, and bare.

The view out our window from the 22nd floor!

I can not even explain how much time we spent walking up and down the strip and shopping in the Fashion Mall. Lyndsey and I were in Forever 21 buying our dresses because we knew that they always had a large variety that is priced right and not that bad a quality. And it was kind to my college budget. Luckily, the boys didn’t mind going in there because they were drooling at all of the gorgeous women walking through there that they wanted to walk through there more than Lyndsey and I! You could people watch for days in Forever 21 located in the Fashion Mall. It was two stories tall and larger than anticipated. It was exhausting just walking through that one store that we didn’t really care for the rest of the Fashion Mall.

Watched the fashion show from above. Short girl problems.

The second day through Vegas Lyndsey and I kind of had a day to ourselves while the guys drank and gambled. This time I was able to see the fashion show that is held in the middle of the mall. It was so cool! The entire runway raised from the ground and it was a full fledged production. The store that was on was Urban Outfitters. They were expected to open a store this week so I’m sure they were making sure people remembered. Here’s a pic of the fashion show.

The whole weekend was a blur! Not because we were drinking but it was all so much fun! There were two club that we were able to experience and they were: Hyde Bellagio & XS Wynn. XS Wynn was , by far, my favorite! We were able to watch Brillz live. Overall, the night was full of surprises and it was our last night in Vegas. You can say that we ended the weekend right.

Now that I am back in Missoula I feel like I could run a marathon in heels for how much walking and dancing I did in 3-4″ heels. Great workout for my legs though! But during…my feet were screaming that I made friends with random girls on the strip in the same position as me.

My 23rd is by-far the best birthday I have ever had. I wouldn’t replace it for anything. Going on vacation is one of the best gifts I have ever gotten. My parents were going to give it to me initially but then Ish bought the tickets and said “Happy Birthday Sis.” He’s so nice. After last weekend I am itching to plan another trip to somewhere else. Next is Spring Break. I’m thinking Hawaii would be a great fit. Hopefully things work out on the place we would stay that all we would have to pay for is the plane ticket and extra-curriculars. Keep your fingers crossed!! I’m officially WANDERLUST!

Love you all,

Christine Jane

Quick Post!

From a long day of working and attending classes I have been able to take advantage of the next ten minutes to make a quick blog post.

With the new season I have found myself busier than ever! I love filling up my schedule! Benefit: I am not lounging around my house and stuffing my face. That’s one of my laziness flaws. If I am not doing anything, junk food is my fuel! Not what I want since I really dislike junk food. [unless i’m hungover…oops ;-)]

Tonight, after work, I will be heading over to the Top Hat to eat, drink, and watch the beautiful acoustic performance of my friend Kayla Hutchinson. I met her through work and I am very happy to have gotten the chance to get to know her! She has a beautiful voice. After her performance I do plan on going home and staying there but we’ll see how well that all pans out.

I almost didn’t want to show up but I told myself I can not keep on flaking out! I tend to flake out when I get lazy or I just don’t want anymore obligations. But I am realizing that lounging around, listening to great music, drinking, and eating; having a great time shouldn’t be seen as such a chore.

Can’t wait to show y’all pics of my adventures this evening!

Take advantage of the nights you have! Every minute, hour and second matters so make them count!

Love you all,

Christine Jane

100 Wisest Words

It’s been well over a week and I haven’t posted one piece of content. What is wrong with me?!

Don’t worry though because I didn’t disappear. I, more-or-less, went into a short hibernation into my life. School has taken much more of my time than I expected. Which has resulted in me relaxing with a couple drinks on the weekends with my friends. Yes, I’m sure most of you are interpreting what “relaxing” means and you can let your imagination run.

What has happened in the last week that I absolutely want to tell y’all??

There is this one post that really caught my eye and I think everyone should give, at least, 10 minutes of their time to read.

This person was given 100 wisest words by their econ teacher and they are amazing. After reading through them I couldn’t believe how true 99% of them were. [some were a little gender bias. which could mean like one or two of them were]

Seriously, click here and it will take you to the site. I promise that you won’t be disappointed. You may be surprised at some of them how eye-opening they can be. I know they were eye-opening for me!

Happy reading!

Life Can Be Hard

Sundays can be one of the best days of the week for some people. For me, it is my day to relax since I have no other obligations but, maybe, some homework. At least I can do that task in bed. I am normally on the go-go-go Monday through Saturday so I cherish the one day a week that I am given.

This Sunday I slept in and work up around 11:30A. Read my current book on my IPad-Kindle app ‘White Girl Problems’ by Babe Walker. [When I am done with the book I plan on doing a review for it so stay tuned!]  Anyways, I made my way to the living room to watch some T.V. while I check all of my social media. All of my social media feeds are pretty predictable but entertaining. Most of them are updates on everyone’s weekend and the parties they attended or how hung over they are. Sometimes I’ll see the occasional drama with young families. This past Sunday was different. I haven’t seen so much sadness stream through my feed in a long time. It’s as if it decided it was due for something different. This past weekend consisted of saying goodbye to people that unexpectedly left for the life in the clouds.

It’s always hard to have these incidents happen but they do happen because it is life. We all live to die in a weird sense.

I do send out my prayers and condolences to those who have been hurt through the events this weekend and will keep them in my heart.

When life hits these curve balls we all wish we were ready but we will never be ready. It’s something that has to be dealt with as the cards are handed.

Since none of these directly effect me I still feel sadness for those who are hurting. It is never easy to lose someone. I always try to remind myself that the one that passed would not want me to be sad forever but to grieve in a positive matter. I may sound like a broken record but I find inspiration from the large event that celebrates the death of loved ones – The Day of the Dead. If you haven’t heard of it, it is an event that is celebrated in Mexico. This day is the day that families of loved ones celebrate the lives of their loved ones on November 1st. It’s heartwarming to see that another culture take something that is so sad and make it beautiful.

Remember:

It may be hard at first, which is completely okay, but remember that you’ll be happy again. Things are never the end and that if you want to be held, tell someone. If you want to be left alone, then go right ahead. If you need to talk, grab someone you trust. The people who care for you most during these times will be right there with a shoulder to cry on because these are the ones that show their true support for you.

Also,

Times like these remind me to love those closest to you and cherish every moment. It’s sad when things like this happen to jolt everyone awake but try to tell people you love that you love them. A couple words can make a large difference.

Love you all,

Christine

My Pin Weekly

I have been slacking on a weekly that I planned on doing. Time to change that!

My pin weekly is my favorite pins of the week that are share worthy to my audience. I love Pinterest this much. But who doesn’t.

ImageOne thing that I am absolutely ecstatic about is decorations using pumpkins. Majority of the population like to do the traditional pumpkin carvings but I love the idea of painting them instead. Not as time consuming, not as messy, & they look chic. Even the idea of covering them in glitter is intriguing. I saw a pic of glitter pumpkins but I am curious to how messy that can be considering I would be messing with glitter… Love the shiny-ness but clean up an be a pain, even if you are careful!

Expect before & after photos of my front steps!

lakecampingI absolutely love the thought of camping in places that are “unconventional”. I’m not a huge fan of camping in pre-made campsites. More of – lets hike somewhere and “get lost” kind of camping. This picture definitely made me want to get out there now even if it is getting cold outside since Autumn is upon us. May not be perfect to many but it’s perfect for me. 🙂

vintagebagI have a thing for leather bags but more of the rustic-vintage looking kind. One that looks more of an outdoor bag than a dressy one. This bag sure has my attention and I could not be any more infatuated. It reminds me of the local Missoulian who makes the fly fishing bags but they are widely known to be used as a fashion statement in this quaint city in the mountains.

Excited For October

September is coming to a close and I couldn’t be anymore excited for October.

My October events include: my grandfather’s birthday, my dad’s birthday, visiting my parents, getting the new iphone, 13 nights of Halloween, Halloween! , my roommates birthday, & capping the end of the month with a trip to Vegas for my 23rd.

May not seem like a whole lot for you but this is gold. The one thing I absolutely love about this month is the 13 Nights of Halloween that ABC Family does every year. Best movie marathon. Although, some movies I question whether it is scary at all or even Halloween related. But I don’t care.

I have also been shopping for costumes. I don’t think it is ever too early to start shopping for a Halloween costume. Shit, I think I started searching at the beginning of the summer!

At the end of the month I will be on my way to VEGAS. One of my oldest & best friends lives in Vegas now and I don’t think I could have thought of a better way to celebrate. It will be Halloween weekend so it should be a packed weekend!

I can’t wait to share with you guys my weekend!
